Therapy Fees, Insurance & FAQs

How Much Does Therapy Cost at Layers Counseling?

The short version: sessions are $100–$250 per 50-minute session, depending on which clinician you work with. Every new client starts with a free 15-minute video consultation with the actual therapist you’d see — so you can ask about fit, approach, and cost before spending anything. We see clients in person in Plano and online anywhere in Texas.

Session Rates by Clinician

  • Karla Pineda, LPC (Executive Director) — OCD & Anxiety (ERP, I-CBT): $250 per session
  • Rachel Tipsword, LCSW — OCD & ARFID: $175 per session
  • Jessica Morales, LPC-Associate — ADHD, Autism & Trauma: $125 per session
  • Isaac Rosas, LMSW (bilingual English/Spanish) — OCD & Anxiety: $100 per session
  • Megan Bridges, LPC-Associate — Child & Teen Trauma: $100 per session

Every clinician — regardless of rate — uses the same evidence-based methods and receives specialty supervision. Working with an associate-level therapist is one of the best ways to get specialized OCD, anxiety, and trauma care at a lower cost.

Insurance

We are a private-pay practice and do not accept insurance. Many of our clients use their out-of-network benefits instead: we provide a superbill you can submit to your insurer for possible reimbursement, depending on your plan.

Questions to ask your insurance company about out-of-network reimbursement:

  • Do I have out-of-network benefits for outpatient mental health?
  • What is my out-of-network deductible, and how much of it has been met?
  • What percentage do you reimburse per session once the deductible is met?

Private pay lets you and your therapist decide the treatment plan — no diagnosis requirements, no session caps, and no interruptions mid-treatment.

Ways to Make Therapy More Affordable

  • Associate-level clinicians — the same specialty training and supervision at $100–$125 per session.
  • HSA / FSA cards — therapy is a qualified medical expense, and we accept HSA and FSA payment.
  • Sliding scale — limited sliding-scale arrangements may be available; ask during your free consultation.
  • Superbills — for out-of-network reimbursement through your insurance plan.

Your Good Faith Estimate

Under the federal No Surprises Act, you have the right to a written Good Faith Estimate of your expected costs before starting care. We provide one to every client at least one business day before your first session. If you’re ever billed $400 or more above your estimate, you can dispute the bill. Learn more on our Good Faith Estimate page.
