This group follows an adolescent-adapted Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) skills model. Sessions focus on building concrete skills in mindfulness, distress tolerance, emotion regulation, interpersonal effectiveness, and walking the middle path. The group is skills-based rather than process-focused, helping teens apply what they learn to real-life situations.
We believe change is most effective when teens are supported outside of session. Parents participate in a collaborative intake session and receive periodic updates and guidance on how to support DBT skill use at home—without blame or judgment.
Teens can expect a structured, supportive group environment focused on learning and practicing skills rather than processing past experiences. Group sessions are predictable and practical, with opportunities to apply skills to real-life challenges. This group is appropriate for teens ages 14–17 who are stable for outpatient care and actively engaged in individual therapy. It may be a good fit for teens experiencing emotional dysregulation, anxiety, impulsivity, conflict with others, or non-suicidal self-injury (NSSI) urges or passive thoughts without current intent or plan. Teens must be willing to practice skills both in and outside of group.
