Denton is a college town at heart, and many of the people who reach out to us are students at the University of North Texas and Texas Woman’s University, where several of our own therapists trained. We also work with Denton families and adults of every age. Layers Counseling Specialists is a small practice where every therapist specializes, helping with OCD, anxiety, ADHD, autism, avoidant/restrictive food intake disorder (ARFID), and trauma. Whether it’s panic in the middle of the semester, OCD that has quietly taken over, or a child whose worries are growing, we use approaches with strong research behind them and go at a pace that feels doable.
We specialize in OCD (including ERP and I-CBT), anxiety disorders, ADHD, autism, ARFID, eating disorders, and trauma, working with children as young as 3, teens, and adults.

From Denton, our office at 8105 Rasor Blvd., Suite 206 is about 35 to 40 minutes away by State Highway 121 and Interstate 35E, in far north Plano near the Dallas North Tollway. Because that’s a real drive, most Denton clients meet with us by secure video, and some come in person when it helps, like early sessions or family sessions.
Online sessions fit between classes, shifts, and family life, and you can meet from your apartment, dorm, or anywhere private in Texas. We offer evening appointments. For Denton parents of a child who won’t come to therapy, our parent-based program, SPACE, works entirely through you and is fully online.
Yes. Anxiety, OCD, ADHD, and perfectionism are common reasons students reach out, and online sessions fit easily around classes.
About 35 to 40 minutes. Most Denton clients meet with us online, and some mix in in-person sessions at our Plano office.
For most people, yes. Research shows online treatment for OCD and anxiety, including exposure and response prevention (ERP), works about as well as meeting in person.
We’re a private-pay practice. Because we don’t bill insurance, nothing goes on file with your insurance company unless you choose to submit a superbill for out-of-network reimbursement. We accept HSA and FSA cards and offer two fee levels: our specialists and our focused clinicians, who are supervised by specialists and cost less. A limited number of sliding-scale spots are available too.
Yes. We see children, teens, and adults, and parents are closely involved in their child’s care, online or in person.
Book a free 15-minute video consult online, or call or text 214.444.8079. You’ll talk with the clinician you’d like to work with, and if it feels right, we’ll find a first appointment that fits your week.
